Run for the Kids. Your best training tips for running!

Hi everyone!

During March 2013 I will be doing the Good Friday Appeal Run for the Kids!
I am only doing the 5.5km run, due to the fact I have never run in my life. No longer than 5 minutes.
So I would love to hear your tips for a person who has never run and is going to attempt to run 5.5km's.
I am trying to cut down on the smoking for this event and for my own well being in general and I know that will help.

If you would like to make a donation for this fantastic cause, here is the link: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/run_for_eli

Wish me luck :)

Six words.... Couch to 5k running plan. Google it! I did it. If I can do it, so can YOU!

c25k.com - tons of great resources there. I'm working my way through the program (free), and it's working. Before, I had never run more than a few seconds at a time.

You've got tons of time to look into and follow the C25K program. I think that would be a smart thing to do if you are new to running. That is how I began running and know that a lot of people here got their start in running that way, too. Give a look over and see what you think!

I would also recommend the c25k program. Made a runner out of me! I used a free app on my phone - c25kFREE by Zen Labs - worked great.
