Exhausted all the time

Hey all, so I'm losing my overseas weight which I typically gain whilst I'm on holidays, but this time I have REALLY struggled. Firstly I have caved every 2 weeks on the dot from extreme hunger and fatigue. 2 weeks ago I went to my dietitian and she has put me on a diet, which I seem to be even more fatigued, and struggling with hunger again. However I am trying my best this time to ignore it.

I have eliminated gluten due to digestive sensitivity, but now I'm beginning to think dairy might be the culprit of my fatigue? My dad has allergies to it. Weight loss this time around has been much slower and harder than usual as well.

I also have a mild pcos. I have been tested for thyroid problems, diabetes and insulin resistance, but I do not have any of them.

My dietitian suggested for me to dial back exercise for the moment to help with my cravings and appetite, but even with light-moderate 5 days a week, everything is just as bad.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Try filling up on more non starchy vegetables, aim for at least nine servings a day in the full rainbow of colours. Also check out the glycaemic index of your starchy carbs, many gluten free products are very refined and high GI so can trigger hunger and cravings. Consider whether you are getting enough of all the minerals (beans, lentils, green veg, seeds, nuts) and essential fatty acids, especially omega-3s from oily fish.

Sorry you are feeling tired all the time. Whilst you can try a few things with your diet to see if it helps, then you might want to consider talking to your doctor if it does't get better.

If I was you I would change my profile to maintaining weight, with no weight loss goal. And eat to that. I would get my extra calories from lean meats, vegetables, and beans/pulses. I would avoid as much sugary type food as possible - which would include high starchy items like white pasta or white bread. I find these foods always make me tired when I eat too much.

I would try it for 2 weeks - keeping the exercise up and eating back all the exercise calories. You will not loose weight, but it should help you eliminate dieting as a source of the tiredness, and by keeping up the exercise you will still be making good changes to your body on the inside.

    Hope you feel better soon

I used to be pretty tired all the time. I started becoming more motivated and less tired the past few months. That was when I needed to start getting 8+ hours of sleep, reduced sugar intake, removed fast food (for the most part), reduced sugar and sodium levels (not sure if there's any correlation), and finding new goals to keep me motivated.

I use preworkouts for exercise because without caffeine my workouts feel useless and I have no motivation.

Has your dietitian suggested anything for your exhaustion? Working out too much and eating too little? Not eating frequently enough?

Whenever you get a new relationship, meet a new person you're interested in or a new job that you land there's a certain excitement that helps you get through the day? I feel like my motivation is lost sometimes when that gets old and boring, so then it's time to move onto something new.

Find something to add to your life that's new and exciting! haha sorry it doesn't really have to do with your diet, but sometimes it might not always be.

Do you have caffeine or caffeine withdrawls?

How many calories are consuming, netting, and exercising away each day?

I've had really bad fatigue lately, and it turns out it's a Thyroid problem. Could be something new that's medical, as well.

If you think it's food allergies(gluten or dairy) I would go to an allergist and get tested. Don't just assume because you are tired. Most likely it's not an allergy if that is you're only issue.

Maybe you aren't eating enough protein. Add more lean proteins and complex carbs. Or maybe you just aren't eating enough period...what is your daily calorie intake?
