eat like an athlete! How?

hiya

i'm partaking in a 100k (62ish miles) hike for charity next year, and start my training program in january.

i'm looking for tips on how to eat like an athlete. i'm looking to increase my complex carb and wholegrain intake, but i'm not sure what else i should be doing.

i want to be strong and prepared, and that includes eating habits, so any tips or recipes out there from anyone involved in some serious exercise would be greatly appreciated.
