Whats bad about it? And how much is optimal? I did go WAY over my MFP number today, but that is not the norm. I do like to sprinkle some salt on my veggies and such though.

Check out the American Heart Associations guide line for sodium intake.High sodium intake affects the heart, blood vessels and kidneys causing high blood pressure .There is also a link to stomach cancer which is being studied. We try to stay under 2400 however for adults over 50 the reccomendation is lower and even lower for people with hypertension.0

Every persons situation is unique. I would suggest scheduling an appointment with your doctor to discuss. Mine has advised me that my sodium limit can increase to 4k. I am a runner and I eat a lot of potassium rich foods.
Again, schedule an appointment with your doctor to discuss.0 -
Unless you have a problem with sodium there's no need to worry about it too much.0

I watch mine because I have hypertension. I actually find it annoying that when you log exercise, MFP will up your calorie goal as well as your macros, but sodium, potassium, and the like stay the same even though you're sweating that stuff out. I find it quite difficult to get my sodium down to where my doctor would like to see it on a regular basis....it's in everything. I limit processed foods as much as I can and what processed items I do eat, I try to find the lowest sodium variety possible and I'm sill usually right around 2,300 - 2,500 and I'm eating at a deficit. I can't imagine what my intake was before I changed my eating habits and lifestyle. I was actually pretty high today (just over 3K)...I had to succumb to my passion for jerky.
I try to balance things out with eating potassium rich foods as well as sweating it out...and I drink quite a bit of water. I usually don't bother logging all of the water because I'm drinking it almost constantly.0 -
