When doing strength training 2-3 times per week do you make sure you do it for X amount of time or that you do X number of excercises for a good workout?
Example -- do you do it for 30 minutes or do you do 8 different excercises for 3 sets each of 8-12 repititions or 2 sets with 20 repitions each?

I concentrate on reps, not time. My routines normally take around 40 minutes, though.0

Find an established strength training program, that instructs you in reps/sets/weights/progression. How long you spend in the gym will depend on the type of program you're doing. A good workout could be 20 minutes, it could be 2 hours, depending on what you're doing.0

x ammount of reps / sets or whatever...almost always I try to do 3 sets of 10, as the weight gets easier i do 4 sets of 10, and then I move up to a heavier weight, and 3 sets of 10 again.0
