hey everyone im 5'2 @ 184lbs and a mom of 3 children that i had all very close together and i have a ton of water weight that just doesnt want to come off. 43.6% water weight. im at 39.4% bf% is there any tips as to how to get rid of some of the access water weight? it definately doesnt have to be instant but i would like to see a steady process of losing it. i exercise when i can but its not steady (will be starting some weight lifting soon) and i have a hard time eating my cals in general im just not hungry so i know i need to eat more. ive just started to drink more water too still not as much as i should be drinking though. so any tips/advice would be great.
Thank you all in advance.

How do you know your excess weight is water weight? Since you are overweight, shouldn't you aim to lose weight in general (reduce calories, exercise) and the rest will follow?
I could be completely ignorant and missing something here...0 -
a very good point melsict i have a scale that shows both bf% and ww% like i mentioned before i have 3 children ages 5, 4 and 2 and never got to lose the weight in between any of them. my problem is im not eating enough not eating too much i eat roughly 600-800 cals a day and thats estimating. i just dont get hungry. so yes i am over weight but its all from having children. if theres anything else i can try to clear up please let me know0

What makes you think the water weight is excess? The human body is 70% water, based on the (since it's from a scale, completely inaccurate) numbers you posted, you're severely dehydrated...
Plus seriously under eating. Perfect recipe for a hospital stay.0 -
If you want your body to be at its ideal water weight, than simply drink your 8 glasses a day... if your dehyrdated you'll actuall retain water!...
I agree with tigersworld... the scales are BS, mine say im 54% even though i drink LOTS of water...0 -
I just read this blog post (it's an old one but very interesting): http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2010/02/01/what-burns-more-calories-cardio-intervals-or-weight-training/ Looks like you're on the right track with the weight training, and if you want to do short exercises that really help you loose weight look up the 30 day shred on youtube (it only takes 20 mins a day!), do level 1 for 10 days, then level 2 and level 3. It is free and works really well. I have three kids too and lost 24 lb in 2.5 months using this workout plus some elliptical (but the 30 day shred was WAY more effective) plus eating at 1200 cals a day. Don't undereat or you won't have any energy to do your workouts plus your hair might start to fall out and nails will get brittle.. eat enough protein every day as well, it keeps you full longer and helps you maintain your lean body mass.0

Oh, my scale says I'm 55% water weight, and my BF is 22.5% so it's not like you have to loose water weight.. get your body fat percentage down and increase your muscle
Also, you said you estimate your calories, start writing everything down here on myfitnesspal because your estimate is probably way off. Logging my food and seeing exactly how many calories there are in the things I eat has been really helpful to me, and consistently staying near the goal of 1200 calories a day and watching my carb/fat/protein levels as well is super important to loose weight successfully and safely.0 -
ok thank you everyone for your input i will learn to drink more water and eat more than i am.0
