so I was thinking that each week when I go shopping instead of having like a set list of items I'll have for each meal, and that's it, I'll have a list of items and each day I'll use them in different ways, like one day I'll have something from the list for breakfast but the next have it for lunch or something like that, instead of having the same thing everyday, you know what I mean? I'm not trying to be confusing but trying to explain it best I can. and also, is dairy bad for you??? and I'm a vegetarian so what are some items that should be on my list? like carrots, oatmeal, beans? I'm not really sure and having major difficulty with my diet part. please help!

Hi! Don't think I can TOTALLY help you but here are some pointers in regards to your post:
* There are varying opinions of whether or not dairy is bad for you. I know some people claim that i clogs your system and basically is mucus like in the body and a bunch of other things. I personally focus my diet on portion control from all different food groups, including minimal amounts of dairy. In choosing dairy I do generally go for low fat, partly skim things, but again depends on what your goals are; I don't know if you have significant weight to lose or are just trying to be healthy/eat clean.
*Even though you're a vegetarian, keep in mind that you do need a balanced diet in order to keep your energy levels up and stay on a plan that is sustainable and won't leave you reaching for the nearest high fat/carb item around.
I think your idea for buying some groceries and seeing all the different ways you can use them is a good idea; it's sort of what I do. I buy the same base groceries each week and end up having a lot of repeat meals that are my favourite, but also changing up and being creative. It's cost effective and gets you thinking about your diet and the different ways to use your foods.
Do you eat eggs? I think some good things for you to buy would be oatmeal, greek yogurt, egg whites if you eat them, spinach, tofu, quinoa, black beans, bell peppers, cucumber, green onions and cilantro, and say...walnuts, apples and strawberries. Say you buy this on a Sunday.
Monday breakfast - oatmeal
Monday morning snack - apple
Monday lunch - spinach salad with walnuts, strawberries and bell peppers, lemon and shallot dressing
Snack - bell peppers with greek yogurt and garlic and dill (makes a dip like tzatzkiki)
Dinner - make a big batch of quinoa salad with most of the veg you have bought as well as the black beans (apple cider vinniagrette is nice on here)
Tuesday breakfast - greek yogurt sweetened with honey and strawberries
Tues morning snack - walnuts and half an apple
Tues lunch - leftover quinoa salad
Tues snack - veg
Tues dinner - Tofu stir fry with spinach and bell peppers
Dessert - other half of your apple, baked with cinnamon (yum tastes like apple pie)
Wednesday breakfast - egg whites with spinach and cilantro
Wednesday morning snack - strawberries and yogurt with splenda
Wednesday lunch - leftover tofu stir fry
Wednesday snack - oatmeal galette (little oatmeal cake type thing you can make in microwave with cinammon)
Wednesday dinner - chick pea salad with veggies that are left and a side of quinoa, prepared with cooking spray and made like fried rice (really good)
These are just some initial ideas, I think this is what your post is referring to. Hopefuly it helps somewhat and you let me know what groceries you buy I can come up with some meal ideas for you. Also as i said have no idea what your goals are as far as calories per day, how often you like to eat, and what kind of foods you eat (ie. don't like artificial sweetners, eggs, tofu, etc). Happy dieting!!!0 -
You could look up recipes and plan out some meals that way, that way you know more of how much and what specific items you will need.0
