acg - you make food that i would enjoy photographing

this was my first time eating these today. they'd been on my list for a while but they are seasonable and mostly found up north. when i saw them at the grocery store i had to snatch them up and try them. sauteed fiddlehead ferns with chopped pecans and fresh thyme. i love how weird they look. they taste sort of like asparagus.

That's sounds interesting. Where up North? and how do you make them?

In the New England area - I'm from Texas and this was the first time I'd ever seen them here. I cooked them (you don't want to eat them raw) in salted boiling water for about 4 minutes before draining and shocking them in some ice water. Then I heated a little vegetable oil in a skillet with a slivered garlic clove and some chopped almonds. Tossed in the drained ferns and sauteed for a couple of minutes before seasoning with salt, pepper, and fresh thyme. It was tasty :)

@Jaffsa - Thank you! when I discovered gluten intolerance/went GF 5+ years ago, Kibbeh was one of the first things we started working on. My mom's recipe is amazing and simple - fresh ground meat is the key! I LOVE it with the quinoa, too. It's a little different than traditional, but I honestly like it better - it has a richer/nuttier flavor than with bulgur.

I've been looking through all the older posts and I have to know what kind of pumpkin chrisdavey is using. It looks like kabocha but I'm hoping its something more easily available and just as delicious.

And here are some shots of things I have eaten in the past few months, nothing in chronological order or taken with a nice camera but they were all delish.

*edited ten thousand times to get the resized pictures looking right >.<

    Nice meals

And I normally use butternut pumpkin. Unsure if it is Australian only? It's the regular one we have.

I don't remember when these are from; I've been eating like crud for a couple of weeks so these are kind of old.

    13408531744_1db265cb41.jpg

Ham, avocado, and white cheddar on 10-grain bread; tomato-olive bruschetta topping for dipping; half a Black Krim tomato with salt; orange bell pepper strips.

    13425963025_6f7d6713f2.jpg

Vanilla Greek yogurt with nectarine cubes and fig butter.

I hope to have more/better pictures soon -- I've been slacking so hard, which means my food hasn't been pretty, healthful meals but rather random junk shoved in my mouth at will. Gaaaaahhh.
