Should I be concerned with sugars....

that come from fruits!? My sugar macro is always over now that I have began making homemade fruit smoothies. I'm using almond milk, strawberries, bananas, yogurt and protein powder. I'll also have a piece of fruit during the day and it looks like my sugar intake would be below or at the recommended amount without the fruit. Been reading that sugars causes belly fat.....

I don't monitor mine, especially if it's fruit.

My doctor says don't worry about sugars unless you are diabetic or pre-diabetic or have other related issues. YMMV

    Fat causes fat.

    No it doesn't

Excess calories cause your body to store fat, fat does not make you fat. Fat is actually essential to the proper functioning of many functions.

    ^OP listen to this
Sugar is just a carb, if your cals and carbs are withing your limits, then sugar will not matter.

    ^^^ This!

And, no, sugar does not cause belly fat. That's complete bunk. Extra calories is what causes fat, and where your body stores it is genetic. Don't worry about your sugar unless you have a medical issue (like diabetes) and your doctor has told to to watch it. I don't even track sugar.

I get most of my sugar from fruits and vegetables...I do monitor it to the extent that I manage my macros and don't want to go over my carbs all of the time. Other than that, I don't worry about it at all. My dad is diabetic and while he's not allowed (or supposed to have) cookies, cake, candy, etc...he is allowed a couple servings of fruit per day.

Fruit is nutritious! Eat it! And your body needs sugar.

I'm in the same boat, I have a protein shake (banana, frozen berries, protein powder, flax seed and water) on work out mornings and an apple with my lunch and I ALWAYS go over the sugar macro... I am allowed one under 40 calorie chocolate after dinner and that's the only sugary thing I eat all day so I turned off the sugar macro. It was just causing me unnecessary stress and we all know what stress does!
