They're pretty simple, but not so "tricky"
These are obvious, and said many times before (shouldn't be anything new here). Also, I think some will disagree with some of these.
1. Enjoy (savor) every bite.
2. Use smaller bowls and plates.
3. Pre-portion your food.
4. Make a list of food "weaknesses" and plan for what you'll do when you encounter them. e.g.: free cookies at work-- allow yourself one if the day of the month is an odd number.
5. Use MFP to log what you eat, (but don't let it overwhelm you-- take days off when you eat in moderation)
6. Use the "proper plate method"
7. More lean protein please.
8. Don't eat full portions at restaurants (when appropriate).
9. Don't skip breakfast.

I think those are all very good 'tricks' (I actually have no idea what "proper plate method" is, but it sounds good). But, that said, the only one I did while losing was #1. :ohwell:
I have since added #5 and I struggle with #7 but finally gave up and added protein powder.0 -
The idea behind the proper plate method is to put bigger quantities of the right foods and smaller portions of the bad foods on your plate. See: http://www.extension.iastate.edu/foodsavings/plan/menuplanning/plate/0

For the terribly lazy like me, Metamucil and water 20 minutes before food.0

Oh, then I did/do that one too. More or less. I generally don't put bad foods on my plate, but when I do they may be all that is on the plate.0
