Mouthguards

Ordered one as I noticed I grit my teeth during squats and deadlifts, was wondering if any of you use them. Apparently it may help with max lifts, as it stops a tension leak.

This is the one I ordered: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00112J5M0/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i00

"If you clench your jaw while doing your sets, it’ll make you stronger. The same happens if you grip the weights or handles harder. American sports scientists at Marquette University have researched the effect known as concurrent activation potentiation."

I use one for sparring, but I've never kept it in when I'm lifting. Might try it.

Years back I mishapened my tooth surfaces by clenching my teeth in deads, squats and bench, OHP as well. Can't do anything about that now - so I would recommend a well fitting mouthguard if you are going heavy.

I have never found one of these "boil to fit" type mouth guards that actually fit no matter how many times I heat and fit it, although some people find them pretty good. It's not expensive so I suppose it's worth a try. I'm looking into getting a custom-made one for sparring as I just don't seem to get on with the others.
