What are appropriate Christmas gift ideas for:

The girl in the Seafood Dept who cooks my daily lunch fish?
The sushi guy who prepares my daily sushi?
Massage therapist?
School teachers?
Dance instructors?
Neighbors?
School bus drivers?

And who am I forgetting?

Baked goods pretty much work for all of them.

I'm assuming you don't know these people, on a deep, personal level, so just a tray of homebaked (or store bought, if you suck in the kitchen) cookies or other Christmas goodies will work.

Don't be silly. My employees receive cash. I'm asking about all of the commoners who I do not directly employ.

A note giving permission to spank you child when they act up
    Steel Toe work boots
List of houses for sale in a different city, and url to website that reviews moving companies

As a former teacher, giftcards to Starbucks were my lifeline. Not to office/teacher supply, please don't do that!! Something they can treat themselves rather than think about more work. I think a gift card would be good for any of the above, these days.

I hear what you're saying, but teaching is waaaay more personal than, say the cook you see and banter with every day. You may not see the teacher often, but the teacher sees and knows your child. Service providers generally get $5-20 for a little Christmas thank you. That may be insulting to give to a teacher that provides much more to your child than a sandwich. Something that says you thought of them and went a step beyond hauling out your wallet for a spare $5 seems more appropriate. But I'm not a teacher, so I wouldn't know. It was just an opinion.

How is CASH not the number 1 answer here? How is it not the only answer?

I don't drink coffee, but do you know how many Starbucks gift cards I have in my glove box right now?

    Cash>>>>gift card

Whatever you decided please include a nice personalized Christmas Card. It is personal and makes it seem like you went to some trouble for each individual person.

Just saying. What you do after that makes you a winner, because you thought so hard on the card. You send me a card with your many thanks for a service I'm gonna remember you more than I already do. >Backing out of your personal space now<

But I was kind of hoping to accomplish that personal touch without, well, you know, so much personal effort. I want them to think I care, whether I really do or not.

So were you thinking of some cookies/candies with just a small note? That would work too really. You could do a small note of thanks easily attached to something small. That would be nice too... and it isn't *going overboard* on your part.

I agree with the sentiment here. It encompasses "the reason for the season" as they say. I say, DON'T FORGET TO STUFF THE CARDS WITH CASH!

    You're welcome.
