elbow problem when weightlifting

What causes your elbow to "pop" or crunch when lifting weights. I have this problem with my left elbow, particularly when doing my tricep workout but I have also experienced it at other times.
My left arm has not caught up with my right yet either, much to my disappointment and I don't know how long that takes. I'm wondering if the elbow thing is from that?

Overstressed tendons and/or tendonitis could be a potential issue. It could also be a subluxing ulnar nerve. Have you ever injured the area or your forearm before?0

one time over the summer i think I injured the tendons in both of my forearms on the inner side doing a bicep workout. Whatever I did, it made me cranky for 3 days and I couldn't stand to do anything till it healed. But I remember what it felt like while it was happening! So I won't make that mistake again.
but I think I have had the crunching/popping elbow the whole time I have lifted weights. Sometimes it is worse than other times0
