Fear of Change

"When your desire to change is greater than your fear of changing, the excuses will go away." - Debbie Rucker
No one would ever think the lack of discipline to lose weight and be healthy would ultimately result in fear of change. I mean we all want to be desired, we all want to feel beautiful, and we all want to live longer healthier lives. Why would we fear being and having all these wonderful things?
We don't fear the end results, not at all. In fact, that's all we want, the end results. We fear the distance getting there.
Getting to the end results of losing weight and being healthy is a tough road to travel. The perseverance and patience of daily physical and mental battling are exhausting, especially in a world that preaches and promotes instant gratification. But just like anything else in life, practice makes perfect. A quarter back does multiple reps of passing routes to ensure every throw and every play comes naturally and instinctively. This is the same for living healthy. Are we practicing healthy repetition to ensure we are going to overcome the fears of changing? Are the excuses for adopting a healthier lifestyle slowing going away?
In the Bible, Proverbs 26:11 says more bluntly, "As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly." Ouch, right? You wouldn't look at it that way, would you? But really... if our old lives were so horrible we had to make this great life change, why would we go back to it?
