Could use advice on taking a week off from lifting

I honestly wasn't sure what category to post this under. But anyways I have been lifting heavy for a good 2-3 months now and I can just tell that my body needs a break. So since school is out AND the school gym is closed next week AND its Christmas I have decided to make next week a rest week. Now I do not plan to lift at all but I still plan to do my daily cardio session (because I love cardio). Now with that in mind, I would REALLY love to splurge next week on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but I don't want to ruin any of my hard work.
I would love some advice and/or opinions on rest weeks and how you guys go about handling them? I don't know if I've ever taken a true rest week so I'm a little nervous :-|

Two days isn't going to ruin anything, unless you somehow manage to cram in 10,000 calories on each of those days, and then sit idle for the entire week after...well, so long as 'splurging' doesn't become a habit anyway.
As for how I handle them: I don't. In fact, I've been lifting heavy for four months now, as I decided to go as hard of possible from the very beginning, and have actually now increased my training frequency from four days per week to six.0
