  • i felt it would help clear up some of other peoples questions/concerns. i have another useful link i posted in food and nutrition called really cool info. it shows you what your nutrient ratios should be. seeing as how many people are concerned about *going over* on protein, which is almost impossible lol here it is

    Very interesting link! Thanks. A couple of quotes that I found helpful regarding what effects your BMR:
    Diet. Starvation or serious abrupt calorie-reduction can dramatically reduce BMR by up to 30 percent.Restrictive low-calorie weight loss diets may cause your BMR to drop as much as 20%.
    Exercise. Physical exercise not only influences body weight by burning calories, it also helps raise your BMR by building extra lean tissue. (Lean tissue is more metabolically demanding than fat tissue.) So you burn more calories even when sleeping.

    Enjoyed this very much. I did notice that the formula they use is different then the one MFP uses. MFP calculates my BMR lower than this site.
  • yeah mfp uses mifflin st. jeor i think. i forget what the link uses. but in both cases they are still an estimate. the only true way to know is if you get tested
