The above can prove to be informative, amusing, and perhaps even shocking. YMMV

Here...to help educate the peeps. Per Urban Dictionary:

Trolling: The art of deliberately, cleverly, and secretly pissing people off, usually via the internet, using dialogue. Trolling does not mean just making rude remarks: Shouting swear words at someone doesn't count as trolling; it's just flaming, and isn't funny. Spam isn't trolling either; it pisses people off, but it's lame.

The most essential part of trolling is convincing your victim that either a) truly believe in what you are saying, no matter how outrageous, or b) give your victim malicious instructions, under the guise of help.
Trolling requires decieving; any trolling that doesn't involve decieving someone isn't trolling at all; it's just stupid. As such, your victim must not know that you are trolling; if he does, you are an unsuccesful troll.

Let me repeat the last line: Trolling requires decieving; any trolling that doesn't involve decieving someone isn't trolling at all; it's just stupid. As such, your victim must not know that you are trolling; if he does, you are an unsuccesful troll.

So for everyone that gets pissed because someone has a differing opinion or doesn't like "the way" someone conveys their advice - that doesn't make them trolls. Glad we got that sorted now :D

Creeping, or creeper, comes from the root "creepy", a word used to describe revulsion, horror, uneasiness, such that it causes the sensation of things 'creeping along the skin.' It is colloquially used to denote someone who is creeping around for photographs, usually of women, which said 'creeper' (noun) finds arousing. Creepers might try to engage someone in conversation to elicit more "*kitten*-fodder", a term for media which inspires the creeper in *kitten*. Creeper is an only-slightly-less threatening relative of Stalker.

Trolling comes from the root "troll" or "trawling" as a boat in a river will idle and drag bait through the water. Often, an Internet troll will "cast a line", if you will, with a hook baited by offensive material. They don't wish to catch fish, however, the objective of this trolling is to catch people's ire. A classic example might be a post that says "people who have gone bald are proven to be less intelligent and have smaller genitals than people with hair." The claim itself is completely baseless, but may upset people and provoke an argument. Watching this upset behavior entertains the troll. The term could easily have been inspired by a bridge troll as well, the Internet Convocation On Etymology has not produced a satisfactory conclusion.

    Creeper. e.g.
"Joylia, your lips are seriously beautiful. I can see them there in the picture. Plump, very hot, I'll bet those are soft. I'm going to think about those later. Heh heh. Would you talk abusively toward me?"
    Creepy, creeper behavior.

Hmmm then I guess we are all trolls. I thought trolls are those cute dolls that I used to collect when I was a tween.

See, when you add the screwing with people part to define trolling -then it's okay. But just saying spending hours on message boards isn't.

spending lots of time on boards has nothing to do with it. you can be a troll with just a few seconds or minutes of internet use a day.

reread this thread(all the messages people have posted here) and you will see the definition.

Thanks, everyone. Creeping is what I thought. Trolling...I was clueless. Now it makes sense, like the woman who posted a question about starting her 9-month-old baby on shakeology. Just looking to stir people up and sit back and watch the fight begin.

I would say the shakeology baby thing was not so much a troll, but a very silly joke. It does not pass the Troll standard of a rational person thinking it was a plausible, if deplorable, position.

There is no discriminating against irrational people in dealing with troll behavior. If there was trolling would be nearly impossible.

    Hey FitBeto.

I don't want to freak you out, so don't make any sudden movements.

But . . . you GOT SOMETHING ON YOUR BACK!!! You got FEET coming out of your NECK! WTF?!?
