Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor Question

So I recently got the Polar FT4 HRM. The directions say to wash after every five uses. Is this important? Will it make a difference if I wait until after the seventh or eighth use? I usually work out every day, and now that I have the hrm I'm really excited to use it for every work out.
My fifth use was yesterday. I didn't exercise today, and I won't exercise tomorrow (no time). I will exercise Sunday and Monday. Could I wait until Tuesday to wash it?
I really want to take care of my hrm, but I want to know how important it is to stick to the five time use rule.

I think it's more for the contacts on the harness to work correctly. If you're not having problems with the contacts picking up your HR, then I don't think a day or two will matter.0

I have the same model and I rinse it and hang it to dry after each use since its usually drenched with sweat after I work out0

I did not wash my first HRM very often. It stopped working after a while. Fortunately, amazon replaced the broken one, and now I make sure to wash my new HRM after every 5th use or more often. Not taking any risks.0

I rinse mine after every use, but they say to wash it after every fifth use.0

I swim with mine, so I just rinse after each use. I have seen reviews where users said they have had the monitor quit reading and all it needed was to be put through the wash to work again.0

I work out 6 days a week and do laundry once a week. I'm not doing an extra load of laundry just to wash it every 5 days. I usually take a shower immediately after I work out so I usually just take the strap in with me and give it a good rinse and hang it up to dry until next time.0

I've never washed mine if you mean in a washing machine. I rinse the contacts well in the sink after every use and hang it up to dry. It's almost 2 years old now.0
