Our squadron had a sloppy joe fundraiser today, and several of the people in my office other than me are trying to lose weight. So we decided to bail on the fundraiser and bring in Turkey Sloppy Joes instead. I made them last night and when I sat down to compare after lunch look how good we were!! Other than ours being high in sodium we definitely made a good choice!

Turkey Joes
Total per 1 Sloppy Joe including bun
226 cal
3 g fat
45 mg cholesterol
1229 mg sodium
23 g protein
26 g carbs
43 mg potassium

Crazy Fatty Squadron made Beef Sloppy Joes including bun :noway:
396 cal
17 g fat
76 mg cholesterol
867 mg sodium
28 g protein
33 g carbs
323 mg potassium

Excellent - way to go! BTW, mind sharing the recipe? I actually have a pound of ground turkey at home that I was wondering what to do with...

Did you use buns as well?

20 oz package of 99% FF ground turkey breast
    1 yellow onion
2 tbls McCormicks 1 Step Seasonning Sloppy Joe
1 cup KC Masterpiece Light BBQ Sauce
    1/4 cup water
Roman Meal Brand Whole Grain Buns (43g size) -- not sure if they come in other sizes

As I browned the turkey I chopped the onion and threw it in with it. Once cooked add remaining ingredients and simmer for about 10 minutes. VERY simple, I love simple. The buns accounted for 110 cal, 2 g fat, 210 mg sodium, 20g carbs, and 4g protien in case you can't find those in your area, should make it easy to figure the right totals for yours!
