One month of fitness boot camp results! :)

Last month, I joined a fitness boot camp that meets five days a week for one hour. Two day of the five days involve strength exercises with free weights, The other three days are cardio and core strength activities. The cardio days are different each day. Some days are running a few laps with an exercise at the end of each lap. Another day will be pulling sleds with weights on them in different ways. Medicine ball routines can be part of another day. The one that killed me the most was the day we ran up flights of stairs for 25 minutes holding a backpack of weights at our chest. Though out this month, I have noticed that my arms, legs and abs have gained more muscle. My weight has not shifted down as much as I like despite maintaining a calorie deficit but I try to keep telling myself that I am gaining muscle and losing fat. I was looking forward to the end of the boot camp session to get tested again and compare it to the beginning of the month. I needed to see that my hard work with the diet and exercise was paying off.

So yesterday, I just got tested at my fitness boot camp. Great results! One month ago I couldn't do even one sit up in one minutes time. Yesterday, I did sixteen. I nearly doubled the amount of push-up that I could do from 14 to 26 fairly easily. For measurements, my body fat % (measured by calipers in the arm, belly and thigh) went down 4%, waist shrunk by 3.5 inches and my hips by one inch. My heart rate after three minutes of exercise went from 118 beats per minute to 101.

Thirty pounds until goal weight, I signed up for another six months of boot camp. Here is to a healthier, stronger and thinner me in the new year! How about you? What actions are you doing, not just wish you were doing like I did for so many years?

This is awesome! Congrats! I recently started running 2-3x a week and incorporating in strength training... my Body fat % according to a bod pod (air displacement) was 44%.. I'm excited to go soon and see if it has changed much!
