If it doesn't have a mother (or a face) it isn't meat.

    Short answer: Vegetable.
Long answeer: Beans are a high fiber, high protein, vegetable. They have some good vitamins and minerals too. However you CAN sub them for meat like many vegan's do. they have a higher carb content than meat.

If you're a biologist, beans are vegetables. If you're eating them, they're a meat substitute. This is if you're asking about things like black beans and pinto beans and the other non-green beans that have a higher source of protein. They still have plenty of vitamins and minerals and such but not the same ones as, say, soy beans or broccoli.

they provide the protein that meat can as a subsitute for vegetarians/vegans. they are legumes. they do not making moo sounds, or cluck, or bleed (as far as we know of).

Beans are meat. Legume is a dark meat, just like a chicken leg. Beanbreast is the light meat.

I like the beanbreast, myself. Nothing like a sliced beanbreast sandwich.

Beans are mostly starches, with some protein.

You might want to get rid of the whole food pyramid/classification BS entirely. The whole idea is to establish a system to help you get proper macro and micronutrients in your diet. If you use MFP to track your foods and macros and micros, you don't need another helper system. Just track here and try to meet your goals.

Why do you want to know? As MoreBean says (and she knows her beans) if you are tracking in MFP you just need to be aware of the macro and micros, not the classification of them. But they are a legume.

Indeed. Had he used all caps, it would have been even more likely to be misread.

Some plants have mothers...why just the other day I was at a friend's place and he was talking about his mother plant...
    Some plants are dioecious:

So if a potato has eyes, does that make it meat?
