If it doesn't have a mother (or a face) it isn't meat.0

This .... is just too beautiful. I can't believe I never thought of that before myself0 -
Short answer: Vegetable.
Long answeer: Beans are a high fiber, high protein, vegetable. They have some good vitamins and minerals too. However you CAN sub them for meat like many vegan's do. they have a higher carb content than meat.

If you're a biologist, beans are vegetables. If you're eating them, they're a meat substitute. This is if you're asking about things like black beans and pinto beans and the other non-green beans that have a higher source of protein. They still have plenty of vitamins and minerals and such but not the same ones as, say, soy beans or broccoli.0

Are beans meat? Really?

they provide the protein that meat can as a subsitute for vegetarians/vegans. they are legumes. they do not making moo sounds, or cluck, or bleed (as far as we know of).0

Beans are meat. Legume is a dark meat, just like a chicken leg. Beanbreast is the light meat.0

The more you eat, the more you...........0 -
Beans are mostly starches, with some protein.
You might want to get rid of the whole food pyramid/classification BS entirely. The whole idea is to establish a system to help you get proper macro and micronutrients in your diet. If you use MFP to track your foods and macros and micros, you don't need another helper system. Just track here and try to meet your goals.0 -
I'm a human bean, we are all human beans....0

I like to flick them.
OP: beans are not meat.0 -

I so misread that at first!0 -
I'm a human bean, we are all human beans....
This made me laugh0 -
Why do you want to know? As MoreBean says (and she knows her beans) if you are tracking in MFP you just need to be aware of the macro and micros, not the classification of them. But they are a legume.0

Indeed. Had he used all caps, it would have been even more likely to be misread.0 -
