Hey - hoping I could draw on the collective wisdom of these forums.
I saw an idea on Pinterest to make a handwritten scarf using fabric pens, and I thought this would be a great, personalized Christmas gift for my sister-in-law, who looooves scarves. The problem is, I don't know what to write on it! I'm making two more for friends, one with a passage from A Sand County Almanac and one with a passage from Pride & Prejudice, which are their favourite books, but I have NO IDEA what to write on my SIL's scarf. I asked her husband what her favourite books are, and all he could think of was the Pillars of the Earth series... which isn't exactly what I had in mind to write on a scarf.
So I thought I would write out an inspirational paragraph, but I'm not sure what from! She's not religious but is spiritual, she loves things like tarot and numerology if that gives you an idea. Anyone have any thoughts???

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it's a line of a song that's really helped me these past 6 months.

This is kind of long, but is one of my favorites...
My friends, how desperately do we need to be loved and to love. When Christ said that man does not live by bread alone, he spoke of hunger. This hunger was not the hunger of the body. It was not the hunger for bread. He spoke of hunger that begins deep down in the very depths of our being. He spoke of a need as vital as breath. He spoke of our hunger for love.
Love is something you and I must have. We must have it because our spirit feeds upon it. We must have it because without it we become weak and faint. Without love our self-esteem weakens. Without it our courage fails. Without love we can no longer look out confidently at the world. We turn inward and begin to feed upon our own personalities, and little by little we destroy ourselves.
With it we are creative. With it we march tirelessly. With it, and with it alone, we are able to sacrifice for others.
Chief Dan George
I have two little nieces and this quote has come to mind a lot ; Little girls, like butterflies need no excuses. - Robert Heinlein
