Getting Over Binge Eating with Controlled Spike Day

Alright, I'm trying to diet. I've been doing it for a couple of years now but it's getting harder. Now that I've graduated from college, I'm hoping it'll get a bit easier again.

I weigh 163 presently and am 5'10. I want to get to 150. I'm definitely a mesomorph and I've been losing the same 10-15 since August.

I'm doing Insanity for the second time. I didn't get too much results the first time when it comes to weight because I didn't watch what I ate as I should have. I'm doing much better in that regard this round although I'm just finishing up my first week. My result on the fit test did improve dramatically along with muscle mass. However, I want to cut and tone up.

I'm eating 500+ below maintenance and since I do have a tendency to binge after awhile (today would have been a binge but I stopped and controlled myself), I'm going to add in a "spike day" where I eat either 500 calories above maintenance or I eat at maintenance. Today, I went 500 calories above.

I use FitBit as well and use the weekly deficit that site shows me versus mfp because mfp doesn't seem to update correctly at times with my FitBit.

I think I'll get better results in weight loss this time with Insanity using this method and I'm hoping this will also help me get my binging under control (so far so good). However, has anyone else had results with this type of method or a similar method?
