Hill Walking for Fat Legs

I know, there's no "spot reducing" on one's body. Trust me, I've done lunges, leg lifts, squats - nothing worked. And I hated those things.

Well lucky for me there's a hill near my house. I hate hills. I have "exercise induced asthma" and I get totally out of breath in a big way. But I had been walking 3 miles for a few weeks and I decided one day, ok try the hills.

Ok I tried it. And it was hard. I went far the first day, next day not very far. Next day after that pretty far. About 1000 feet up, and it's ok, it's really hard. I walk with my husband.

Today, not a great day for me, but I did it.

And I'm seeing results. First the cal counts are off the charts. Some days are 1000 cals burned easily for me. Well ok, not easily but easier than working out at home, and much nicer too.

And my legs! I haven't really lost too much weight per se but my pants are fitting better and the fat legs are getting......slimmer. I thought I would be cursed with fat thighs from hell, thunder thighs, fat fat fat forever and I thought it was genetic.

I've now bought a really cute pink raincoat, and I'm looking at buying some cute hiking boots.

I can't believe it.

I'm also looking for other people doing or wanting to do hill walking. Pls friend me.

Hey! I walk hills normally but recently everything came to a halt when my dog (hiking partner) was diagnosed with arthritis. We have what I call The Queen Mother and is close to 1000 feet according to my gps. In total, if I invest 2 hours I can include 3 hills & a walk around the lagoon.

I love that you love your hill walking and Im excited that you see your results. When the un comes out I will get back out there with my hiking buddy. Keep up your good work!
  • Awesome work!!!!!! hills are tought but not impossible as you know first hand!....... when i first started working on my legs i used a
6-8 inch stepper and wow, what great results i saw!!! dancing and stepping up and down really helped shape my legs!!!
the best part is you can go as fast or slow as you need and still see results!!!!

I can feel the difference in my legs too. My pants are getting a bit more comfortable and my legs used to be really hard (I'm guessing from condensed fat) because now they feel more squishy lol. I like the walking too, it gives me "me" time. I am always reading your articles, I'm always learning new things. For instance, not to do too many squats or leg lifts because they make your legs thicker rather than slimming down.
