What are you needing from it?

I have had one since May. I wanted one badly because I felt like I was sedentary, but suspected that all the little daily things that a mother does might be a lot more than I thought. I was right! The first few days I found that as a "sedentary" person, I still managed to walk 10,000-12,000 steps!

I set MFP on sedentary, and no longer have to log ANY exercise--I just wear my fitbit and let it do its thing. On a super busy day I can get a 700+ calorie adjustment!

I LOVE my Fitbit Ultra!! I got it in October and wear it all the time. Sleep with it at night. Feel lost without it. I got it because I wasn't convinced that my daily calorie burn was as high as all the online calculators said it was. Well the Fitbit confirmed that it is. I burn between 2000-2200 cals a day just doing life... I have it synced with MFP and I love the adjustments it gives me on lazy days vs active days. I love my weekly progress reports and seeing all the steps I take. It makes me walk more instead of drive. TOTALLY Worth the $100!!! I even bought one for my sister and she LOVES hers too! Do it...

I have one and really don't care for it. For me it's a waste of money.

    I love mine.
  • I am wanting to lose weight, so I worry that seeing how many steps I take during the day and the calories I work off will let me think I can eat more...and more turns into tons.
  • And my other question is....if I walk so much and/or burn so many calories on a regular day then why aren't I losing weight? I kinda worrry it might not motivate me...does that sound stupid.

Think of it more as a tool to ensure that you have a correct deficit for optimal weight loss.

Once I got mine, I realized that my 60 minute treadmill sessions were overkill. I was undereating, and really couldn't eat any more ( I was eating over 2,000 calories a day, and having nets of like 400 cal). I cut my treadmill time in half and still lost decent weight!

it was my tool to tell me that on grocery shopping day I didn't need to feel guilty about running through Arby's for lunch--all the walking through the store more than made up for it! And when I walked around the fair, I didn't need to feel guilty about the various bites of things I had ( an elephant toe, a couple bites of pizza, a whole gyro, some fair fries, etc)
