I bought a freemotion incline trainer treadmill 19 days ago...I've used it 16 of those days so far..So doing good...I do a 22 minute workout. The first day I burned 200 calories..The second day I pushed it too far and almost passed out...Since then, no problems..Just learned I need gradually increase and to cool down on the treadmill and not just stop..I'm not 25 anymore..LOL!!! So here we are in day 19 and I just burned 435 calories in 22 minutes..This treadmill goes up to a 40% incline..So you can really feel it the legs..I received a polar ft4 heart rate monitor for Christmas and used it tonight...The display showed I only burned 237 calories in 22 minutes compared to 435 calories by the treadmill...My average heart rate was 130. My high was 149..Remember I just started exercising 19 days ago and I would guess my bmi is 25%, maybe more..Which number is closer to the real number of calories burned...I'm guessing it's some where in the middle..

If you hold on to the handrails or use any arm support while incline walking, you significantly reduce the calories you actually burn compared to the machine display. The difference can be as high as 70%. There is no way to tell if your FT4 is set up all that accurately, but I can say with 100% certainty the machine display is way, way off.0

My heart rate is 140+when I'm going up an incline of 30 to 40% at 2.5 to 3 mph even when I hold onto the rails..Running 7 mph with no incline, my heart is in the high 120's not holding onto the rails..0

Actually I hold onto the rail in front of me..This rail is at eye level when the treadmill is at 0% incline..My arms are never below mid chest when holding onto the rail at a 15% incline or higher..So I'm not really lifting my weight..0
