Skinny and still really out of shape

I just joined today (prompted by my new Polar FT40 I bought with Christmas money). I'm not really trying to lose weight (I don't even own a scale!) since I'm 5'9 and weight about 138 or so. My BMI is fine. However, I'm getting closer to my 30th birthday and I spend all day sitting down and accordingly I'm getting a lot bigger than I normally am. I've been blessed with a small frame, but my waist went from 28 to 30 in the past few years (and my butt expanded accordingly, lol). So I'm really trying to a) get in shape, and b) reshape my body so it's leaner again.
I've never really been much for exercise and school gym classes left me traumatized for years. Being skinny but painfully out of shape will also get you a lot of crap from gym teachers. But I've recently started to actually enjoy the elliptical machine and lifting weights. I still can't go running at all without getting an immediate side-stitch though (and if I go running outside I get terrible throat pain for some reason).
Anyway, I'm excited to use this program to track diet and exercise. I'm really impressed by the barcode scanning! I'm a vegan (have been for five years for ethical reasons) so keeping track of things like protein and iron will be really helpful as well (and the database even had the dandy's vegan marshmallows I was eating today in it!).
Since I'm new I'd love to add some new people! So if you're vegetarian or vegan or if you're a lady also mainly trying to get in shape feel free to add me!
