Looking for a HARD yoga DVD

I did Rodney Yee's power yoga dvd last night and found it to be very mellow. I felt great after, but I didn't get a "total body workout" (not even close) as the cover of the DVD suggested. I would much prefer a live class, but unfortunately they aren't offered at times that work in my schedule - so I've got to rely on DVDs for now.

So, does anyone have any suggestions for a DVD where I'll actually feel some burn and fatigue in my muscles, where I'll break into a sweat and raise my heart rate a little? I prefer a nice, challenging vinyasa flow class.

That would be the Bryan Kest Power Yoga DVD which you can find on Amazon.com. You can also google his website where he has his 90 minute classes online that are very challenging!

I'm not a yoga guru but I have 3 that I like and one that I'll never do again. Anyway, I have a Bob Harper Yoga for the Warrior, inside out method that maybe something like what you are wanting.

One thing to consider is - were you putting your all into the Yoga session? I'm not suggesting you were not, but we've all had sessions where we know we didn't get the maximum out because we didn't or couldn't put our all in. It's difficult to be "up there" all the time.

If the session really was too mild, try this (just select, copy and paste into your address bar):

Mark Gonzalez is a challenging Power Yoga teacher. This one is freely available on You Tube and there are two other videos you can download from his website for a small charge. I've tried them all and can thoroughly recommend them. If your yoga mat isn't wet with sweat I will be surprised!

OK I'm a yoga novice but I did Jillian Michaels Yoga Melt down - and OMG!!! I was in so much pain the following day - great workout.

P90x has a yoga session which lasts 90mins - haven't done it but hey - if you fancy it - go for it!!!

Check out Tara Stiles yoga on YouTube. She has lots of 8-10 minute videos you can download free and put together your own workout.

P90X1 Yoga video is 90 minutes long. If you don't feel the burn then you're doing it wrong.
  • P90X Yoga is intense. Like the nice lady above me said, if you don't feel completely unwound and crazy unhinged AHEM i mean "the burn" you are doing it wrong.

    Seriously, try it.

definitely try P90x yoga, that is quite the workout.

If you don't want to buy the whole P90x program, I think you can download individual programs from P90x app..... The first 45 minutes is the toughest part.... then the next 45 includes various stretches and balance poses. I have been doing this pretty much every week for a year, aside for the last month where I switched to Insanity, but I'll be back to it soon. I love how I feel after this workout although I would not consider it "fun", at least in the beginning, it's really worth it.

Will have to check out the Bob Harper Yoga for the Warrier, sounds interesting...thanks!
