I know, it seems silly for someone to want to hit the gym when they are recovering from laryngitis, but for me, it's very frustrating as i need to do something to help myself and running obviously is not going to help. And of course there is all this chocolate lying around that my parents gave me for Christmas.... and I love chocolate. Usually I allow myself have a few pieces, but I am not hitting the gym and fear I am just going to put it back on.

Anyways, I've considered pilates (I have a dvd) and maybe a few leg workouts that don't involve heavy breathing. Anyone have any other ideas or should I just continue to wait until my body is 100%? I am at about 85%, but I still have some voice and cough issues.

  • I would honestly wait!! I know it stinks but your body is telling you something!! Rest and recover!! That is key!! Hope you feel better!!

Why wouldn't you go to the gym with laryngitis? I had it for several days last week and didn't let it stop me from working out.

Are yu ill, or have you simply got no voice? If your voice is your only symptom, go on as normal. Just quietly.

I guess I don't go because it's viral and I'd hate to give it to someone else. I mean my sweat goes everywhere. Not to mention just yesterday I was having troubles swallowing without pain and I couldn't talk to anyone because my throat hurt that bad. It didn't start to get better until I broke down and bought a humidifier. Thanks for the input guys! I did do some pilates today and I think tomorrow I will try to do a nice slow jog with elliptical too tomorrow.

It isn't necessarily viral. I get it for mechanical reasons (overuse) and if it is or initially viral for me, it often lingers long after the virus that started it has passed. That's why I asked if you were I'll in any other way.

It is very thoughtful of you to be concerned about passing a bug on though. I really wish others were so considerate.
