My arms make me sad..

Im so terrified that I will never be able to get rid of this skin under my arms. My arms have slimmed down a lot, but the skin is loose and saggy. Ive been using my dumbells to work my arms, but I dont think Im doing it enough.

How many times a week should I work my arms to see a change? I use 10lbs dumbells. And what are some good exercises for that part. ( I know you cant truly spot reduce, but what would help?)

Skin can take years to snap back, depending on your elasticity and age.
It usually won't go back exactly where it was - unless you're like, a teenager.

What was said in the first reply. Also, you need to use heavier weights. Most women I know have purses that weigh more than 10 pounds. Use a weight that is difficult to finish 8 repetitions with. Also you need to work the back of the arms. (triceps) as they make up the majority of the arm muscle. Narrow position pushups or pushups in general will do this nicely.
  • Oh come on girl, you can do more than 10lbs! for biceps I DB curl 35 for my first set. You for sure need to do some tricep work. you can do cable tricep pull down with a rope or straight bar, behind the head tricep extensions, and my favorite Skull crushers! Now it's not going to shrink your skin but it will look nicer to have muscle to fill in a bit. It takes time for the skin to bounce back but you are hopefully young enough to where it will. Also that is just problem area for a lot of women.

35?! I can barly do 10 behind the head tricep extensions with my 10lbs!
  • behind the head triceps I do 45.... my arms are my favorite =) I'm still trying to move up... you have to push each week 2-5lbs more for as many as you can do, look up drop sets and add those in to your weight training.

Close grip bench press, skull crushers, hammer curls.

Being honest with you, generally if you have more than 80+lbs to lose, chances are high that there will be excess skin as you lose weight. Sometimes the skin retracts in another year or so, but there's usually still a small amount that only surgery can fix.
Not trying to be a downer, but don't want you to overexercise trying to rid yourself of it either. Just hit the weights heavy and hard going for 8 reps with as much as you can handle with good form.

Its a downer to think about, but I know I will have loose skin. Im already down 85 pounds and have more to go. But I really need to work on my arms some anyway. And now from reading all these responses Im going to have to to out and buy more bigger dumbells!!
