Book: "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running"

I'm training for a 5k right now, and am interested to learn how much of a quitter I am! I don't push myself very hard at all. It's been a really important self-discovery, because while I know I'm moving in the right direction, I disappoint myself. I was reading this book, and the author does a marathon a year, and even did a couple of ultramarathons. I'm not going to compete with the author of the book, nor would I try to- I'm just trying to get to 5k first- but everything he talks about in the book, about taking control, and not letting your body quit on you, I always pull back in the name of not wanting to push myself too hard. Is that even a thing? Very inspiring book.
