Is it rude to delete people that have not been on MFP on a few months? I mean, they are cluttering up my friends list and not even getting on. Some of them are family memebers to and just don't want them to get back on in 6 months and thing I ws rude...but I am so about to clean up my list. If you are not helping, do not have an open profile, or rarely get on I am cleaning house Have a great day!

Do whatever works for you. In the case of family, you could always re-add them...you don't have to tell them why you deleted them. Just say, "Oh! Oops, here, let me re-add you."......they may not ever come back, anyway.0

It's your friends list, have on it whomever you please. Maybe send a message to your family letting them know to add you again if/when they come back.0

eh, if someone's not on in a while...oh well. I don't delete anyone. I see I've been deleted from some people...probably cuz I don't post or reply to every single comment or post.0

itr's not rude, it's practical. i delete anyone who's gone over 2 mos.0

I delete after 10-14 days. If It's someone I know in "real life," I'll keep them longer, but I've also deleted my sister and sister in law when they stopped using the site.0

You only have 20 people on there. How cluttered could it be? :-))0 -
yes it's rude. what if they need your support and can only lose weight if you're on their friends list, like a talisman? talismans are inanimate objects and cannot be rude. so given that you're a talisman, it's impossible for you to actually be rude. therefore, with this loophole, you can go ahead and delete, and it wouldn't be rude, because like we said, inanimate objects do not have the ability to be rude or kind.0

no its not rude.0

Heck no, it's not rude! If someone hasn't logged in for more than a week on my friends list, they get the ax.0

for me, 20 would be cluttered!!! i cut myself down to 10 recently... so much nicer!!! too many people chattering gives me scatter brain! im like that in real life too, i look for any reason to cut some of my friends out... i would be a good science project for someone im sure...ive yet to even be able to understand myself...0 -

be careful with talismans.
pick up the wrong one in Hawaii and you may fall off your surfboard.

Holy Moly Molly....what if they were in some sort of accident or something? that's just rude0 -
How are they cluttering if they don't log in?0
-
or instead of deleting them ,deactivate your account and make a new annonymous one and post pics of grumpy cats and they won't even know who you are!
yes0 -
How are they cluttering if they don't log in?
^^this and why does it bother you so much...maybe they actually have a life outside of mfp.com?
thats like deleting someone on facebook cause they never post anything! i dont reply or comment alot on mfp but i log in daily.0 -
I delete people all the time for inactivity. I only need to associate with dedicated people.0
-
Are you on this site for you... or for other people?
If they aren't helping you, you aren't helping them, and/or you don't consider them actual friends, why keep them?
I generally delete people as soon as their login turns red, which is three days. There are a few exceptions, mostly because I really *am* very fond of (and very picky about) the people I have on my list, but that's always been my rule of thumb since I started on here over 2 years ago.
If people call that rude, that's their prerogative. I just call it sensible.0
