I have trouble believing in myself

New years is fast approaching. I'm seeing/hearing a lot of weight loss and fitness goals being set...some of them are pretty darn ambitious. I want to be that way too! So I start thinking, fifty pounds next year....ambitious, but realistic if dedicated. But then I remember how I spent 90% of 2012 being "on a diet", trying to count calories, drinking more water etc. I even became a gym goer FIVE days a week for the majority of the year! Something I've never done before ever. That's great and all, more healthy vchoices and blah blah blah, but my weight was so roller coastery all year and I had a major plateau for awhile, so i'm only sitting at 15 lbs lost for the year. (technically ten according to post Christmas weigh in). So.... Why would 2013 be much different? Is a fifty lb goal just seeing me up for disappointment? :-/

50 in a year is absolutely realistic. You're not deluding yourself at all with that goal! Most of us are not on on our first rodeo here with weight loss - every new start is a chance to make it right. And the last round was NOT a waste - think of the things you learned that can be carried over! You were eating healthier! And going to the gym! Those are invaluable things to have experience in and will help you greatly this time.
You can do this!0
