Hi everyone,

So I have been doing a lot of cardio and some weight lifting for almost 6 months now. I have lost 32 pounds doing this. I wanted to lose 10 more pounds before focusing on lifting weights because I have heard you do build muscle but do not lose as much weight as I have been so far. Is this true? After I lose 42 pounds I figured lifting weights or doing a workout video like p90x will help tone and build some muscle if I stop losing weight.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

    Hi!
Muscle burns fat, so if you increase your muscle mass you'll continue to lose weight, though maybe not at the same rate.

The closer people get to their goal the more difficult it seems to be to lose those last few pounds. If you hit a plateau I'd say increase the weight training and see if that gives you the extra push.

I'm currently 4 weeks into P90X and would be happy to answer any questions on the program if you have them!

Duda- Thank you :) So weight training now is not such a bad idea.

Meghan-I'm sure I will have questions lol I want to continuing losing after I meet my first goal. I just do not want to remain at that weight if I start p90x. Have you lost some weight on p90x within the four weeks?

xoveronica - to be honest I'm not sure if I have. I haven't weighed myself, and with the treats that arrived around christmas I think I better wait a week lol :)
I have noticed better definition in my abdominals and in my arms, and my pants are a little looser, so that's a good sign!
