Hi OK I want to loose 14lb in 4 months. Can anyone recommend a good diet?
The ones that work best for me are strict ones because I'm generally an all or nothing sort of person so allowing treats a lot seems to slip into binges!!!
I also plan to do some jogging.
Also I currently weigh 130lb but am 5ft3. So not very overweight but I know it will be therefore hard to shift!
Thanks

I call it the whole diet.. its whole lean meats, plenty of fruits and veggies and some dairy/grains if you want. Estimate your tdee and cut 20% from there. But if you workout 5-6 days a week you can eat around 1800 calories and still lose weight. Btw, set macros to 35% carbs, 40% protein and 25% fats. And if you can, do heavy weight training... this is where you will see the greatest changes in your body. Dont worry about weight loss.. its all about fat loss.0

I recommend eating something you like every day for breakfast and lunch. I eat a cup of non- fat plain yogurt mixed with splenda and a cup of frozen blueberries or an orange for breakfast and lunch almost every day, for almost a year now. Surprisingly I haven't gotten sick of it yet. Then I eat a piece of low fat meat and frozen veggies for dinner. You could make fresh ones, I just find that it is easier to use frozen. They are always on hand and don't go bad. I like green beans with butter spray and seasonings. I cut out most breads and carbs. I have a couple pieces of chocolate every day though and I still lose weight. I think replacing two meals with something fast, easy, healthy and low in calorie will help you stick with your diet. Half the battle is figuring out what the heck to eat when you are starving. The protien is good for you and I have noticed I don't get sick as often. I believe it is because of the good bacteria in the yogurt and vitamin c in the fruit. This is what has worked for me. It is good for someone who requires a bit of consistency and a strict diet in order to make up for the occassional binges. I have lost 2 pounds over Christmas break, and splurged at Christmas eating everything I wanted to. I am not trying to lose any more weight, but eating this way makes the weight melt off. Always eat when you are hungry. Just heat up some greenbeans, or break open an orange or another fruit. For dessert I mix a half cup of low carb sugar free vanilla icecream with a cup of frozen blueberries. It makes for a huge delicious dessert! Hope this helps!0

I would doubt this is your maintenance calories if you are active. What is your exercise routine?0 -
I would recommend the "eat food and exercise diet". It's worked for me and millions and millions of others.0

I am better at eating less and doing more exercise rather than just eating reasonably and exercising it off be I know how much exercise u have to do to burn off food.... Its as lot0 -

If you prefer something strict without treats you could join several of us doing Whole30 starting in January. More info here:

I have the same stats as you (5'3, 130 lbs).. Anyway, what has worked for me is a relatively small breakfast to set the tone for the rest of my meals for the day. Also, first thing in the morning: drink a tall glass of cold water and do some cardio before eating anything. I've done this in the past and I went from 130 to 118 in about a month. I gained the weight back a few months later due to overeating related to depression, but I'm back on track now. Good luck finding something that works for you and don't be discouraged if something doesn't, just keep trying.0

You are already a relatively healthy weight, so a 500 calorie a day deficit might be extreme for you. If you go through MFPs automatic goal settings, and go for a half pound a week, I bet you will have more than 1200 a day to work with, and you will likely have more success in the long run, keep it off, and not feel as deprived.
As for how to be successful at whatever your calorie goal is... lots of lean protein, a decent amount of fat, and lots and lots of veggies works for me. (protein and fats satisfy my actual hunger, the veggies provide some bulk so I feel "full")0 -
Unless you have some specific reason to lose that amount of weight in that amount of time, I'd suggest going for a half pound of weight loss per week. I'm about your same height and weight. Once I get down below 130 it gets to be a struggle to drop weight without being super restrictive. I'd suggest focusing more on how you want to keep eating AFTER you reach your goal. It might take you a little longer to get there but it'll be easier to maintain once you do.
For me (I'll say it again, for me) the way to keep myself from cheating is to go low carb. I set a carb goal, usually around 50-60 grams per day, and I'm not allowed to go over it. It helps me to avoid sugary and high carb foods which are triggers for me. Instead, I snack on nuts, shrimp, veggies, etc. I do this most days, unless I know I'm going to be going out or in a social situation where it just isn't feasible.0
