So, I don't eat this stuff all the time, but I keep hearing about how terrible gluten free breads and cookies and all this stuff is for you.
Is that really true, like is it really worse than regular cookies and bread?
I get that a lot of people learn they have to be gluten free and buy everything that has a gluten free label on it to try it and because they are happy to have something safe. But i would normally have some crackers and pretzels and cookies in the house, as well as bread for sandwiches and stuff, and I don't eat the crackers and pretzels and cookies all the time, but should I not eat these at all?
what makes them so much worse than the regular counterpart? is it really that bad if you have them in moderation and by the serving size? (still staying under macro nutrients and calories?)

hey girl. They are not bad or good for you. If you are truly celiac this is your only choice. If you are eating gluten free because its a fad its because true gluten free diets cut out all gluten meaning bread and pasta and hoping you dont eat the counter part GV instead, meaning you should be eating low carb. Does that make sense? Let me know if you have any questions. I added you.

Some of those gluten-free things have more calories than their gluten counterparts. And are often devoid of much nutrition. It's nice to have a slice of toast or a cookie occasionally but eating too many of these products leave me feeling less than my best. And they are generally expensive.

If they fit into your goals, satisfy your cravings and you can still get in your nutrition and macros, then eat them.

Yeah, I'm not celiac but I am sensitive to gluten, so I can eat a little bit but if I have a lot then I feel sick so it's just easier to eat gluten free, and I like to have a cookie or a sandwich every now and again. But they aren't so bad calorie wise the ones I get, I have these ginger snaps and gingerbread men and the gingerbread men are 100 calories for 4, and the bread I use is 140 calories for 2 slices, so I thought it was fine, I've seen lots of gluten free things that are very high cal (pastas, and pizzas and stuff but I don't crave those and so don't get them).

Gluten free baked goods tend to be high in starches and not have much fiber but it will vary according to brand. If you're just satisfying a sweet tooth and can account for what you're eating then it's no different than gluten filled foods. My family is gluten free due to intolerances but we don't do much in the way of pre-packaged stuff since I make almost all of ours from scratch. I can tell you from a homemade standpoint that they're about the same as far as nutrition is concerned unless you purposely add flax, chia or something of that nature to bump up the nutrition and fiber.
