Dumbbell ideas?

If you work out with dumbbells, what are your favorite/most effective exercises to build overall strength? I got a set with 7.5 and 2.5 pound plates for Christmas and I'm not sure where to start!

  • sounds like you have 5 pound dumbbells as well as 15 pounders. You can combine then both for a total of 20 pounders, sounds cool. Youll be able to do all kinds of exercises with them. Look up youtube dumbbell workouts and other stuff online.

    The ones that come to mind for me:

    Upper Body - shoulder presses, bench presses, bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, dumbbell rows (upright or bentover)
    Lower Body - lunges or squats while holding a pair of dumbbells

    Laying dumbbell pullover
    Bicep curl
    Hammer curl
    Concentration curl
    Dumbbell press

    2nd'd the ones already listed. I love upright rows and dumbbell squats.

    Recently started doing Arnold presses. Please watch some youtube videos for the proper form, good stuff!

    Don't forget the shrugs. :wink:

    What he said. I do squat and press with dumbbells too. I got a lot of ideas and info on proper form by searching youtube.
