I have a friend (female), who wants to lose some more weight she used to weight 280 and just dieting alone she is down to 240. She saw my progress with P90 and wanted to do something.. She however has a bad kneeiI tried to find some good workouts she was doing jillian Michaels 30day shred. She would do a workout evry other day and after 10 level 1 workouts she found her knee was really bothering her. She feels discouraged and I'm not sure what to do it seems squats and things are too much at the moment. Do any ladies on here have suggestions. Should she just skip the squat moves born is there another program she won't join a gym she would prefer a home program.. Thank you

I had similar problems for awhile..
Anyway, I was mostly walking and doing seated leg extensions until the muscles around my knees were stronger.0 -
Just walking alone and diet helped me shed 90 lbs. I was walking about 30-40 minutes a day, 5-6x a week. Your friend doesnt need to do anything too strenuous and chance really messing up her knee.0

I walked a lot while losing the majority of my weight. Leslie Sansone has some great walking DVD's and they are pretty fun too. Maybe she can try those and some strength training as well.0

The knee is a complex joint with a variety of muscles ligaments and tendons which could be injured, without having a firm diagnosis it's impossible to recommend any exercises that are safe and effective other than it would be wise to avoid high impact and anything that causes pain. It may be her squatting technique is poor or there is a muscle imbalance pulling the patella out of alignment, who knows. Do ensure she is training in walking or running trainers that have been fitted to her following a gait analysis (usually free at proper running/ sports shops). Also ensure she is warming up thoroughly - ten minutes low impact easy pace which few DVDs seem to bother with.0
