Question: Isn't pushing your legs on an elliptical with resistance similar or close to lifting weights? Wouldn't the elliptical be a combination of cardio and strength training?

I would consider it the equivalent of doing very ineffective weight training, beneficial to muscle endurance only.0

Not any more so than walking up a hill, climbing stairs or pushing a baby carriage.0

I get it. I have a whole weight set. I am going to learn how to use it. The elliptical is easy for me, I need to branch out with weights.0

The elliptical is an aerobic exercise. It would help with cardiovascular endurance, it wouldn't necessarily be equivalent to weights. Lifting weights would recruit muscles to help with muscular strength or endurance ( depending on your goal). I enjoy doing both weights and the elliptical.0

I am going to include weights too! It is amazing how fast the body can adapt to an exercise. I started with 20 minutes elliptical now i can do an hour and a half, 10 sit-ups now I can do 90. it is time to change it up my routine.0
