hey everyone, i'm from the UK but living away from home and haven't got anything to measure my food with!

I'm wondering what type of cup you should use when it says 1 cup of something.
e.g. is it a mug like this - http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/319709/1361722/0/1144354188/ceramic_mug.jpg
or a smaller cup like this - http://se.ethz.ch/people/leitner/erl_g/image/tea_cup_small.jpg

i'm tryin to work out what 50g of COOKED couscous should look like on a plate!

hope you can help!!

  • A US cup is 60mls I think. Rachel
  • 1 cup of a solid substance is probably just a little more than the small tea cup in your picture. A ceramic coffee mug probably holds about a cup and a half.

    1 CUP = 250ML = 8 FLUIDE OUNCES
  • thanks guys!
  • Ya know, you could just go to a dollar store or Target or WalMart or something and pick up a very inexpensive set of American measuring cups - then you'd be all set!
