after I had my first son, who will be 30 next week, I wore size 9/10 juniors. I was exactly the same weight I am today. I wear a size 10 woman's. (8 when they are stretchy or I squeeeeeeze into them holding my breath  ) I have not noticed sizes being any different

I am surprised that you are wearing the same size. When I was this weight (144 lbs) in high school (40 years ago), I was wearing a very tight 14. Right now, I am between a 6 and and 8. I still have m wedding dress which is a 10 from 1979 and there is no way I can get into it. Back then, I didn't have a hope in you know what to even get into a size 8 even at my slimmest. So sizes have changed, and changed drastically.

"What Size Am I" website-- put in your measurements and it tell you what size you are in different brands.

UK and US for women's sizes only.

Wait, what?! There's vanity sizing? You mean it's not a miracle that I now fit in a size 12 even though I'm 28lbs heavier than I was in high school when I wore a 14! I am so disappointed!!!!!! =(

I was really discouraged a couple of years ago when I was even more serious about this stuff and taking measurements frequently. For some reason I was only measure my arms and chest, not my waist. I decided to do so and was astonished that, even though I had lost several inches my waist still measured larger than what my pants said. So I measured the pants and just couldn't figure out what it is that I was doing wrong when the pants measured 5 or so inches larger than the tag said.

What's ridiculous is when people try to guilt others about it. I had a roommate a few years ago who was, erm, quite unfit and had given up on himself a long time ago. I had mentioned my actual waist size and his response was something akin to "Oh, wow, I feel a lot better than myself because I wear the same size" except in a very rude manner. I just thought, "Uh, yeah, no, you most certainly do not."
