Juicing?

Hi there.

I regularly fill a pint glass with juice from fresh vegetables (using a juicer). I'm having a very hard time figuring out the nutritional information for all my food items, since I'm only drinking the juice and not eating the vegetable(s). For instance, I know what the nutritional information is for a beet, but not beet juice! Same goes for kale, celery, carrots, etc...

Does anyone have a resource or a suggestion of how to figure this out? Thank you!!

Google this online, I had the same question and found a formula. You subtract 20 percent of the actual value because you take out the fiber. I forget the details but the information is available.

if you add "juice" or "juiced" to your search there will usually be a result for raw juice

The calories from the fiber is so minimal it really doesn't matter. The calories come from the sugars which are all in the juice. The silly part is your body needs the fiber that you are throwing away. Just eat the vegetables.
  • My body gets a lot of fiber and I just really enjoy the taste of fresh juice.

My nutritional dr said just to put in the calories, etc for the entire fruit/vegetable. I like juicing and getting the nutrition into my body. I have lost weight with juicing and I do have health issues that makes losing weight very hard.

What kind of juicer do you have? Do you recommend it? What do you juice?

I have a Jack LeLane and I have been able to juice kale, apples, carrots, cucumbers, celery, cranberries, orange, garlic, pineapple.
Sometimes there is a jam with this juicer and stringer/fiberous vegies/fruit like pineapple and celery may clog screen. Apples may also stall the machine. I only put in one clove of garlic to juice with the fruit and vegies you can't even taste it.
