protein

Hi all,

Apart from xmas wobbles, my diet usually involves eggs for breakfast, turkey salad for lunch, and turkey, rice (or couscous) and veg for dinner, with a natural yoghurt. But my calories counter keeps telling me Im eating too much protein, but I know a high protein diet is good for weight loss and building muscle... any advice?

Thanks!

Go into goals and change your macros. MFP defaults to 15% protein and i'm not sure why. For anyone looking for strength gains, it's simply too low. IMO, anyway. My macros are 40 carbs and 30 30 fat and protein. That may be too high for you, but a 50/25/25 split seems reasonable, too.

You can adjust your protein/carb/fat ratio by selecting custom goal setting.

I currently have mine set to 40 carb/30 protein/30 fat since I am doing Eat More 2 Weigh Less. I don't hit my protein goals yet, but I am getting closer :)

    Cool, thanks for the replies!
  • it's easier to diet when your protein is higher. you feel fuller and helps you maintain lean body mass which you don;t want to loose.

I agree with this and changing your macros to higher protein. I set mine at 35% / 35% / 30% (protein, carb, fat)

I agree too, I eat a lot of turkey and two eggs in the morning, it keeps me going and is great for energy. I was just a bit worried at the levels listed on here, as Im eating what I feel is an ok amount, so Ill just adjust it.
