So, I've been lifting for about a week. Not too much - I'm still pretty weak! But it's more than I've ever done. After just a week, I'm seeing improvement. Not huge, earth-shattering results. But little things. Looking a little firmer all around, seeing just a tiny bit more definition than before, pants that were a bit snug now fit a little looser.
It's a pretty awesome motivation to stick with it.
Added benefits - I'm so much more into lifting than I ever was into cardio. I hate, hate, hate most cardio activities, but I actually enjoy lifting. It doesn't seem like as much work, even though it leaves me MUCH sorer and more tired than running ever did. I actually have to FORCE myself to take rest days, because I really don't want to!
For newbies like me (formerly), who are skeptical about starting weight-training: give it a shot. I was so surprised at how much I love it, and I'm loving the first hints of results I'm seeing so far.

I could have totally written this!!
I am a relative noob-- I have only been lifting since October or November, but I love it. I had to take a week off due to a calf sprain and I was so sad.
In 2-3 months I have gone from 50# squats to 120# squats, and lateral leg press from 208# to 238#. On pull ups I have gone from 165# of assist to 105# of assist.
Today I looked at 2 pictures I took a month apart, and I can see obvious changes in the shape of my belly!0 -

They are your workouts to enjoy as you wish.0 -
Lifting is amazing! The more you do it the more you will want to do it. I started in October and the change in my body is amazing. Enjoy it only gets better from here0
