Best regime to get rid of some waist/belly flab?

I was pretty fit and tight until October when an emotional event triggered me to binge eat for the best part of 6 weeks.
As a result, my weight shot up about 10Ibs and my formerly lean body now has some fat around the waist area which I despise.

I got fit before by doing just cycling and elliptical, some walking.
This time, I am wondering what else I can add to help, that wont gain more weight, until I have dropped a few of these excess pounds.

There seems to be so many forms of weight/strength training from bodyweight exercises, to heavy lifting to exercises using those fitness balls and medicine balls, that I don't know which will get me the body I want (very lean but very firm also)
