I don't know what work out to do today...

...for the first time in as long as I can remember I don't have a workout plan for the day, I need suggestions.

For the last year at least I have always had something in the pipeline - running due to training for 10ks, gym circuit or classes because I joined the gym, swimming as I was learning and Turbofire, Insanity and 30 day shred were all completed.

However today the gym is closed so that means I can't swim, do my circuit or attend any classes.
I can't run as I sprained my ankle two weeks ago and am under strict instruction not to and I don't really want to do any of my at home DVDs (Turbofire, Combat, 3DS etc) asI did Turbofire yesterday for the first time since my sprain and I am in quite a bit of pain again today so obviously too much jumping around etc isn't good for my ankle right now.

The sensible part of me is saying to just take a rest day, rest the ankle and get back on it tomorrow (gym is open again and I have every intention of going) but the stubborn part of me is saying I HAVE to work out on the first day of the year, surely it's bad luck or bad form or something not to? :P

Heeeeelllllp?

Make it a planning day. plan 2013 right down to which 10ks you are doing, Surf the internet and you tube to see what other new training programs are out there... there are a lot of new exercise gurus that do programs specifically designed to avoid injury. Check out yoga, pilates or barre. No jumping at all !

No, it's not bad luck or bad form to rest on January 1. Happy New year.

That sounds like great advice! If you MUST move, maybe a walk - you can still do the planning in your head!!!

I agree with the above :)

I would rest up, if you're in pain today the worst thing you could do is workout as this will most likely cause more damage, which will lead to longer recovery!

I would think with a sprained ankle most weight-bearing activities are out, so you may have to use it as a planning day as an earlier poster suggested.
