Any Spartans?

I'm thinking of signing up for the Spartan Sprint in Malibu on November 30 or December 1. Has anybody here done a Spartan Race? If so, how was your experience? Any training advice for a total beginner? I have almost a year, so there is actually time to implement a lot of the advice ^_^ Thank you so much in advance!
