I've been on and off of fitness websites for years now. I know all the info, I know how to do it...all I don't know is how to stick to it. It's not even like I lose weight and gain it back (other than a pound or two). I just don't even lose it, because I'll stay on track for a couple days, and then eat take out and office birthday cake and a couple (ok, maybe more than a couple) glasses of wine, and it balances out in the end to no weight loss.
I feel like SUCH a cliche that it's January 2 right now. I feel like I need to defend myself against all the "New Years Resolution" dieters and exercisers. But why? There's nothing wrong with that. We should all support those people so maybe they'll stick with it instead of falling off the wagon in February.
I'm trying to set smaller goals this time, so I don't get discouraged. The gym 3x per week, instead of every day. If I try to go every day I clearly miss a day and am then totally discouraged. And then I quit. And have some chocolate and a glass of wine. Clearly not productive!
I'm going on vacation the first week in March. I think that's a good interim goal for me. To just think "forever" seems daunting to me. Right now, I have 2 months to do my best. And then I'll have a few months to the start of summer. And then a couple months until my birthday, etc. I'm gonna aim for 2-month goals, and re-evaluate myself at that time.
