Gympact App - has anyone used it?

It apparently pays you real money for going to the gym, and charges you for skipping out.

It is now available for Android (has only been available for iOS until now) and I'm thinking of trying it. An overview and a few good questions raised in the lifehacker article below...

I looked but felt that the amounts wouldn't be enough motivation for me. Instead I use a app which allows me to put marbles in a jar each time i workmout. When i reach a certain number i reward myself. For me its a Thomas Sabo charm for my bracelet. App is called 'I behave' - its really for naughty children!!!

I've been using it for 2 months now...it has a few bugs but overall I like it. It works with the Runkeeper App also, which is very useful. Just don't expect to earn a lot of money, I average about $1.50 a week, but it's more about motivation for me anyway.

I used the Gympact app for several months this spring, but ultimately had them cancel my account. I found that I had customer service issues over and over again - - first they charged my credit card more than $300 in "missed workout" charges even while sending me congratulations emails for making my pact (apparently the sign-in process had a glitch and they thought I was simultaneously not making and making my pact); they would not count the start of new weeks so that the tracker would say that I had met my target, even though it was a new week and I had only completed a fraction of the required workouts; it would not register workouts that I had completed..... Several of the issues were repeated over and over, and although they generally got resolved, the fact that their system was so messed up that the same issues kept coming up was disturbing to me - - especially with money on the line.

I found the app helpful to get me into good workout patters, and I can think of at least 2 instances where it was only the thought of making up a missed workout that got me onto the recumbent bike. In the long run, though, I found the app too glitchy to be satisfying - - the issues were more bother than the benefits, to me.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'm going to pass on this for now - sounds like it will give me more trouble than motivation.
