I'm training for a 10 mile race on March 3. Right now I can only run about 4+ miles, so I really need to run to get in shape for that race. But I also really want to do strength training. I did P90X last year and am planning on using that for my strength training. Ideally I'd do 3 P90X strength workouts and 3 runs a week. But here's my issue- I work at 4 days a week (Mon-Thurs) at work which is where I have access to the weights and everything I need for the P90X workouts- and the DVDs.
I'm trying to work out my workout schedule and I can't decide if I should do 3 strength and 1 cardio workout each work week or 2 strength and 2 cardio workouts. If you've done P90X, do you think doing 3 strength workouts- say Shoulders & Arms, Back & Biceps, and Legs & Back- in a 4 day span would be too much or is it doable? I'll definitely be running on Fridays and Sunday, and possibly Wednesdays. Anyone have any insight as to how I should schedule my 4 work day workouts? Thanks!
